My Goals for 2016

It’s here! 2016 is finally here! I’ve been excited for the new year and every crazy possibility that it holds.

But let’s not pretend like we’re not already tired of the same conversation we have every January: What are your new year’s resolutions? Lose 10 pounds, volunteer every Saturday, solve California’s water crisis? Excellent!

This year, I want to talk about goals instead of resolutions. I like that word better—goals. We all know that in pursuit of a goal, we’re given a little bit of lenience when it comes to achieving them. There’s an implied growth and a valuable learning curve that let’s us adjust, swerve a bit on our path, and ultimately end up at a destination that’s most beneficial to our lives, whether or not it’s what we started out to achieve.

Resolutions tend to be rigid and unforgiving. Swerving off your path feels like a failure rather than an adventure. So let’s do away with resolutions and start making our goals for 2016 and beyond.

What are your goals for this year? I’d love to hear what they are and how they’re going!

Cheers!
